Beginning again is harder than beginning. The first time, you have momentum and hope on your side. But starting over — after a week that went sideways, after the same failure for the hundredth time, after you swore you would do better and did not — that takes a different kind of courage. It means facing the gap between who you meant to be and who you have been, and stepping forward anyway.
This prayer is for the morning when you have to begin again and are not sure you have the strength for it. You do not need to muster confidence first. You do not need to have your act together or your resolve restored. You only need to show up honest, with empty hands, and let God supply the strength you are missing.
Lord,
It is the start of another week, and I am coming to You before I open the calendar, before the emails, before the noise.
I do not know everything this week holds. You do. That used to scare me. Today I am asking You to let it comfort me instead.
Forgive me for the ways I tried to carry last week alone. The worry I rehearsed. The rest I refused. The people I rushed past.
I am laying it down now. All of it.
Give me strength for today only. Not the whole week — I know You do not hand it out in bulk. Just today’s portion. Bread for this morning.
Where I am anxious, settle me. Where I am behind, remind me that Your timing is not mine. Where I have been hard on myself, soften my own voice until it sounds more like Yours.
Teach me to work from rest, not for it. To move through this day unhurried, because hurry has never once made me more like You.
Thank You that Your mercy does not run out, and that beginning again is not starting from zero — it is starting from grace.
Put people in my path today who need a kind word, and put the kind word in my mouth.
Be my strength to begin again. Amen.

Ask for today’s portion of strength, and only today’s. When your mind races ahead to the whole week, gently bring it back to the single day in front of you. God provides like manna — enough for now.
Let mercy reset your inner voice. The moment you catch yourself replaying a failure, answer it with the truth that His mercies are new this morning. Speak to yourself the way He speaks to you.
Begin from rest, not toward it. Before you dive into the doing, take one quiet minute to remember you are already loved. Work that flows out of that security looks different from work that is trying to earn it.

When you face the same struggle again: Lord, Your mercy is new today. Give me grace to take one more step.
